DTM: BMW driver Marco Wittmann first 2014 DTM winner
Triumphant victory for BMW youngster Marco Wittmann. The 23-year-old scored his first DTM victory at the season opener at Hockenheim. On finishing after 42 laps, Wittmann had a 12.869-second advantage over the two-time DTM Champion Mattias Ekström (Audi). Ekström’s brand colleague and team-mate Adrien Tambay completed the podium. The reigning Champion Mike Rockenfeller (Audi) barely missed a podium finish in front of 75,000 spectators (throughout the weekend). The other point-finishes went to Audi and BMW drivers as well. Pascal Wehrlein as the best driver of a Mercedes-Benz finished out of the points in eleventh place.
All three of the premium manufacturers involved in the DTM, Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz, rely on high-tech clutches by ZF Friedrichshafen AG.

WEC: ZF partner Toyota claims second victory of the season
Another perfect weekend for Toyota in the WEC. The Japanese constructor, whose Technical Partner ZF Friedrichshafen AG is this season, following its victory in the opening round at Silverstone, celebrated another victory in round two of the season at Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium. Anthony Davidson, Nicolas Lapierre and Sébastien Buemi finished 1m 13.926s ahead the Audi R18 e-tron Quattro designated as car #1. The car of Lucas di Grassi, Loïc Duval and Tom Kristensen, like the victorious Toyota, is equipped with a clutch from ZF.
The podium was completed by the second Toyota TS040 (Wurz, Sarrazin, Nakajima). ZF technology also achieved success in the next three positions. Fourth place went to the new Porsche 919 (Dumas, Jani, Lieb) which had started from the pole position. Positions five and six went to the other two Audi R18 e-tron quattro cars. As a ‘rehearsal’ for the season’s pinnacle event, the Le Mans 24 Hours (June 14/15), the manufacturer from Ingolstadt competed with three cars for the first time.
