DTM: Points finishes for Audi at season opener
Four Audi cars finished the 2010 DTM season opener at the Hockenheimring in Baden-Wuerttemberg in the points. Mike Rockenfeller took fifth place in the two-year old A4 DTM, his brand colleagues Mattias Ekstr, Timo Scheider and series newcomer Miguel Molina followed in positions six to eight. The winner of the opening race was Gary Paffett (AMG Mercedes).
A better result for the Audi A4 DTM cars equipped with clutches by ZF Sachs Race Engineering was prevented by a tyre blow-out on the vehicle driven by Martin Tomczyk who was leading the race in the early stages. A tactical mishap that occurred in conjunction with Mattias Ekstr痴 mandatory pit stop resulted in the two-time DTM Champion being penalised with an additional pit stop which caused him to miss a clearly better placing.
