DTM: Timo Scheider triumphs at Adria
Timo Scheider wins the penultimate round of the 2010 DTM season at the Adria International Raceway. It is the reigning DTM Champion’s first win of the season. Scheider’s triumph has a special dimension considering the fact that he clinched it after having started from grid position 15 following a bungled qualifying yesterday.
Shortly after the start the tenth round of the season had to be stopped because Audi driver Alexandre Prémat spectacularly crashed into the guard rails after body contact with Maro Engel (Mercedes). The Frenchman climbed out of his totally damaged car uninjured. After the race was re-started in rainy conditions Scheider’s Audi brand colleagues Markus Winkelhock, Oliver Jarvis, Martin Tomczyk and Mattias Ekström scored points as well. All A4 DTM cars running in the internationally most popular touring car series are equipped with high technology clutches from ZF Sachs Race Engineering.
At the season finale of the DTM on November 28 at Shanghai Bruno Spengler, Paul Di Resta and Gary Paffett (all from Mercedes) still have chances of winning the drivers title.
