Formula 1: Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso wins South Korean inaugural round
Fernando Alonso clinched victory at the first Formula 1 race in South Korea. The Spaniard whose Ferrari is equipped with dampers from ZF Sachs Race Engineering showed a strong performance in the rainy 17th of 19 rounds of the season. By securing his fifth victory of the year he took the lead of the drivers’ championship. With a third-place finish his team colleague Felipe Massa perfected the successful weekend of ZF Sachs’s partner Ferrari.
Record world champion Michael Schumacher whose Mercedes is fitted with dampers from ZF Sachs Race Engineering as well posted his best result of the season by finishing the round in fourth place. Championship points were also scored by the two Sauber drivers, Kamui Kobayashi and Nick Heidfeld, in positions eight and nine. The Swiss team uses dampers from ZF Sachs in its racing cars as well.
