DTM: Audi driver Ekstr wins DTM race at Valencia
Mattias Ekstr ends a long barren spell: the two-time champion won the second round of the DTM season at Valencia, Spain, which marked his first victory since the 2008 race at Le Mans. In addition, Alexandre Prat (third), the current champion Timo Scheider (fourth), Mike Rockenfeller (sixth) and DTM rookie Miguel Molina (eighth) finished in the points. All Audi A4 DTM cars are fitted with high-tech clutches from ZF Sachs Race Engineering.
For a while it even looked like Audi would clinch a one-two-three victory but a technical defect of the fuel system forced Oliver Jarvis, who was running in second place at that time, to retire on the 38th lap. In addition, Martin Tomczyk, who shone with a recovery from position nine to second, was subsequently disqualified. At the Audi A4 DTM of the driver from Rosenheim, Bavaria, the use of a tyre which had not been intended for the race was proved due to a mix-up in the selection of the racing tyres. After two of ten races of the season Bruno Spengler (AMG Mercedes), who finished as the runner-up at Valencia, ranks at the top of the drivers standings with 16 points, three points ahead of the winner Mattias Ekstr.
