Formula 1: One-two for ZF Sachs partner Ferrari in opener in Bahrain
The new Formula 1 season started with a magnificent result for the ZF Sachs Race Engineering partners: Ferrari celebrated a one-two finish at the opening race in Bahrain. The Spaniard Fernando Alonso won his debut race for Ferrari followed by team mate Felipe Massa, who competed in a Formula 1 race for the first time since his accident last year.
The ZF Sachs Race Engineering dampers worked incredibly hard in the two race cars. Refuelling is banned since the start of this season which means that the race cars start with a full fuel load before finishing the race significantly lighter. In spite of the extremely different loads the dampers must produce the maximum performance in all conditions.
The Mercedes-Benz GP team also had every reason to celebrate: The new team finished fourth and fifth places respectively with Nico Rosberg and Michael Schumacher. As a result, the record world champion from Germany scored points in a worldwide much reported comeback. Like Ferrari the Mercedes-Benz race cars are also equipped with ZF Sachs Race Engineering dampers. The Toro Rosso, Sauber and HRT teams are also fitted with ZF Sachs technology.
