Formula 1: Massa wins in Valencia
The maiden Formula 1 race at the new circuit in Valencia ended in a commanding victory by Ferrari driver Felipe Massa. The Brazilian, whose car is fitted with dampers from ZF Sachs, started to the European Grand Prix from the pole position and didn’t give his rivals the slightest chance straight from the first lap. Massa thus reduced his gap to championship leader Lewis Hamilton to six points. Despite title defender Kimi Räikkönen’s retirement Ferrari continues leading the constructors’ championship. BMW-Sauber driver Robert Kubica finished the race on the 5.4-kilometre circuit on the podium as well. The Pole also relies on dampers from ZF Sachs Race Engineering. Points at the twelfth Formula 1 round of the season were also clinched by Toyota drivers Jarno Trulli and Timo Glock in positions five and seven. The clutches in both of the racing cars of the Cologne-based team come from Schweinfurt.

ALMS: Podium place for Porsche
At the eighth round of the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) at Mosport Porsche drivers Sascha Maassen and Patrick Long finished third in the LM P2 class. The RS Spyder of the German-American duo is equipped with dampers and a clutch from ZF Sachs Race Engineering. Penske team-mates Timo Bernhard and Romain Dumas on the other hand were struck by misfortune at one of the fastest races of the North American sports car series staged on late Sunday evening (European time). They had been leading the race for some of the time before running out of fuel on the last lap. Because they were still classified sixth in class they defended their lead in the LM P2 drivers’ standings. Audi managed a one-two victory at Mosport. Lucas Luhr and Marco Werner prevailed against their brand colleagues Rinaldo Capello and Emanuele Pirro. This meant that the Germans made an important step towards the title win in the LM P1 class. The R10 TDI cars use clutches from Schweinfurt.
