ALMS: double podium for Porsche RS Spyder

In a dramatic race at Road America that was interrupted by a total of nine safety car periods two Porsche teams, Timo Bernhard and Romain Dumas as well as Butch Leitzinger and Marino Franchitti, finished on the podium of the LMP2 class. The prototype, which is fitted with dampers and a clutch by ZF Sachs Race Engineering, looked like a candidate for victory for a long time but then was unable to play out the fuel consumption advantages of the new direct-petrol injection engine due to the many interruptions. Nevertheless, Bernhard and Dumas defended their lead in the championship. A one-two overall win was celebrated by the Audi squad: victory again went to Lucas Luhr and Marco Werner, who like their second-placed brand colleagues Marcel Fsler and Emanuele Pirro drove the R10 TDI diesel sportscar equipped with a clutch from Schweinfurt.
