The Canadian Grand Prix ended with a major exploit for BMW-Sauber. The first victory of the German-Swiss team in its young team history turned out to be a one-two win: Polish driver Robert Kubica won the race ahead of Nick Heidfeld. For Kubica,this marked the first Formula 1 victory as well, and it propelled him � also for the first time � to the top of the drivers championship. The racing cars of the two front runners are equipped with dampers from ZF Sachs.
With a fourth-place finish, the German Timo Glock was another driver to achieve his best GP result so far. His Toyota team-mate Jarno Trulli came sixth to complete the success of ZF Sachs� clutch partner from Japan. Ferrari driver Felipe Massa clinched fifth place with damper technology from Schweinfurt.
