Formula 1: Alonso takes fifth place at Hockenheim

Fernando Alonso finished in fifth position in the German Grand Prix at the Hockenheimring. The Spaniard, in whose Ferrari dampers from ZF Friedrichshafen AG are used, has scored points in all ten races so far this season. As a result of finishing fifth he defended his fourth place in the Drivers’ World Championship and secured Ferrari important points in the manufacturers’ classification. Team mate Kimi Räikkönen from Finland crossed the line in eleventh place and thus failed to score championship points.

The ZF partner team Lotus-Renault also narrowly missed scoring points. The Venezuelan Pastor Maldonado, who relies on a ZF Friedrichshafen AG clutch in his car, was twelfth.
