Formula 1: Important points for ZF partner team Ferrari at Spielberg

In Formula 1’s comeback to Spielberg, the ZF partner team Ferrari secured a strong fifth place, achieved by the Spaniard Fernando Alonso. The runner-up in the 2013 World Championship, whose Ferrari F14 T is equipped with dampers by ZF Friedrichshafen AG, clinched important points in the Austrian Grand Prix for maintaining third place in the drivers’ standings. Alonso has been scoring points in all eight races of the season held to date. His team-mate Kimi Räikkönen from Finland, whose Ferrari is equipped with dampers by ZF Friedrichshafen AG as well, in tenth place, took one championship point. In the constructors’ standings of the Formula 1 World Championship, the ZF partner team Ferrari continues to rank in third place.

The ZF partner team Lotus-Renault just barely missed scoring points. The Frenchman Romain Grosjean, who relies on a clutch by ZF Friedrichshafen AG in his car, finished in twelfth place.

Nürburgring 24 Hours: Audi R8 LMS ultra wins on the Nordschleife

In the Nürburgring 24 Hours, the Audi R8 LMS ultra from Team Phoenix Racing, in which a clutch by ZF Friedrichshafen AG is installed, moved to the very front of the field for the first time two hours after the race was started. The lead subsequently changed almost every minute. After a fierce battle, René Rast, Christopher Haase, Christian Marmerow and Markus Winkelhock Phoenix secured victory on the legendary Nordschleife. Haase and Winkelhock had previously driven an Audi R8 LMS ultra equipped by ZF when the team clinched its first overall victory at the Nürburgring in 2012.

A very good result was scored in the 42nd running of the iconic endurance race by the ZF partner team Falken Motorsports. The Porsche 911 GT3 R 997, equipped with clutches of the ZF brand, was driven to victory by Wolf Henzler Peter Dumbreck, Martin Ragginger and Alexandre Imperatori.

Five other cars whose teams rely on clutches by ZF Friedrichshafen AG – the #7 Aston Martin Vantage GT3, the #20 BMW Z4 GT3, the #28 BMW Z4 GT3, plus the two #502 and #16 Audi R8 LMS ultra – took places five to ten.
