DTM: BMW driver Marco Wittmann wins DTM comeback in Hungary
Marco Wittmann is the beaming winner of the DTM comeback in Hungary. The BMW driver, after 41 racing laps on the Hungaroring, was the first to cross the finish line with a 6.615-second advantage over Audi driver Miguel Molina. For Wittmann, following his victory in the Hockenheim season opener, this marked the second triumph in 2014. On winning this race, the German from the Franconia region has taken the lead of the standing, bumping the reigning champion Mike Rockenfeller, who only scored one point in tenth place in front of a crowd of 33,000 spectators (throughout the weekend), from the top spot.

With a strong recovery Bruno Spengler (BMW) battled his way to a podium finish in third place. The crowd at the circuit near the capital city of Budapest was treated to numerous duels and overtaking maneuvers throughout the race. One of the protagonists was Edoardo Mortara (Audi), who finished in fourth place and, trailing Wittmann and Rockenfeller, advanced to third place in the drivers’ standings. The best driver of a Mercedes-Benz was Robert Wickens in eleventh place. All of the three premium manufacturers involved in the DTM, Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz, rely on high-tech clutches by ZF Friedrichshafen AG.
