Formula 1: Good result for ZF customers
ZF customers Lotus-Renault and Ferrari finished the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in the top ten. In perfect external conditions, Romain Grosjean, as the best driver of ZF-supported team, finished the 17th of 19 Formula 1 races in position four. The Frenchman in his Lotus-Renault equipped with a clutch by ZF Friedrichshafen AG started the race from position six on the grid. He delivered a good start that immediately made him advance to fourth place. His fourth consecutive podium finish was possible, especially since the 27-year-old was the fastest driver in the field in some phases of the race.
Behind Grosjean, Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso took fifth place. The two-time Formula 1 World Champion whose race car uses dampers from ZF recovered five places during the course of the race and made a big step toward finishing the Formula 1 World Championship as the runner-up. His team-mate Felipe Massa, in eighth place, finished in the top ten as well. In the battle for second place in the Championship, Alonso extended his advantage over Kimi Räikkönen from ZF’s partner Lotus-Renault by ten points to 34.
