DTM: Bruno Spengler keeps title fight open

In front of 71,000 spectators (throughout the weekend) Bruno Spengler wins the eighth round of the DTM season at Oschersleben and thus keeps the battle for the title in the most popular international touring car racing series wide open. The BMW driver after 51 laps prevailed with an advantage of 0.629 seconds over championship leader Gary Paffett (Mercedes-Benz). Exactly these two drivers have the greatest chances for the title before the two last rounds at Valencia (Spain) and in the finale at Hockenheim on 21 October. Paffett, who kept reducing the gap to race leader Spengler on the final laps at the Motorsport Arena, retains an eleven-point advantage in the drivers’ standings.

The third driver with chances for the title is Jamie Green (Mercedes-Benz) who came third at Oschersleben. Mike Rockenfeller (Audi), in fourth place at Oschersleben and in the drivers’ standings, is out of contention for the title with a 52-point deficit. All of the three premium manufacturers involved in the DTM, Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz, rely on clutch high-tech from ZF Friedrichshafen AG.
