DTM: Maiden win for Audi pilot Edoardo Mortara
Lights-to-flag win for Edoardo Mortara: The Italian, who celebrated his first pole position in the DTM the previous day, won the fourth round of the most popular international touring car series on Austria’s Spielberg circuit with an advantage of 1.068 seconds over reigning champion Martin Tomczyk in the BMW and points’ leader Gary Paffett (Mercedes-Benz). Double champion Mattias Ekström (Audi) finished fourth.
All three marques represented on the podium, Audi with the first win of the season and a gripping race with many dramatic battles for positions – the DTM presented itself in the best light in the picturesque setting of the Red Bull Ring in front of 48,500 spectators (over the entire weekend). The three premium manufacturers contesting the DTM, Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz, put their trust in the high-tech clutches of ZF Friedrichshafen AG. The fifth round of the season takes off on the 1st of July on Nuremberg’s Norisring.
