Formula 1: Alonso takes championship lead in Monte Carlo
Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso finished on the podium for the third time this season at the Monaco Grand Prix: after his victory in Malaysia and second place in Spain, Alonso was third in the concrete jungle on the Côte d’Azur. Alonso, whose Ferrari is equipped with dampers from ZF Friedrichshafen AG, now has the championship lead to himself with 76 points after six of the 20 races.
His team mate Felipe Massa came home in sixth place in the traditional race in the principality on the Mediterranean Sea and, in doing so, collected eight championship points. It was the second batch of points for Massa this season.
The Sauber-Ferrari (Kamui Kobayashi and Sergio Pérez) team also relies on the German dampers. The Toro Rosso-Ferrari team drivers (Jean-Eric Vergne and Daniel Ricciardo) race with dampers and clutches from ZF Friedrichshafen.
