Formula 1: Fernando Alonso maintains chances for second place in World Championship
Thanks to securing second place at the penultimate Formula 1 round of the year in Abu Dhabi Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso continues to have good prospects of finishing the season as the runner-up in the world championship. The Spaniard, who relies on dampers from ZF Friedrichshafen AG in his car, is on position three of the championship standings with a ten-point gap to the current runner-up, Jenson Button, before the finale in Brazil on 27 November. 25 points are still to be awarded at the 19th and last championship race.
Felipe Massa whose Ferrari is fitted with dampers from ZF as well finished the race on the spectacular city street circuit in Abu Dhabi in fifth place. Sauber driver Kamui Kobayashi finished tenth and scored one championship point. The car driven by the Japanese is also equipped with dampers from ZF.
