Formula 1: Alonso moves up in World Championship
Fernando Alonso celebrated third place at the Italian Grand Prix. The Spaniard whose Ferrari is equipped with dampers from ZF Friedrichshafen AG had started into the race at Monza from P4. After a tremendous start the two-time world champion was even leading the field on the first few laps. When seeing the chequered flag after 53 laps Alonso, thanks to a third-place finish, had secured his seventh podium result at the 13th race of the season and, in addition, made a leap to second place in the drivers’ championship. Alonsos team-mate at Ferrari, Felipe Massa, finished sixth in Italy.
Team Toro-Rosso Ferrari had reasons to celebrate as well. Jaime Alguersuari and Sébastien Buemi, whose race cars are fitted with clutches and dampers from ZF Friedrichshafen AG, scored points by finishing in seventh and tenth place, respectively.
