DTM: Tomczyk wins and takes lead of the standings

Martin Tomczk is the new leader of the DTM standings. The driver from Rosenheim (Bavaria) won the thrilling seventh round at Brands Hatch (UK) in pouring rain. The previous leader, Bruno Spengler (Mercedes), only took seventh place. This earned Tomczyk, who – except for one slip – commandingly drove his laps a one-point advantage in the drivers’ standings of the most popular international touring car series before the last three rounds of the season.

Alongside Tomczyk two other drivers of Audi A4 DTM cars – Mattias Ekström and Edoardo Mortara – clinched podium places. For the Italian Mortara this marks the first podium result in his DTM career. All Audi vehicles in the DTM are equipped with clutch high-tech from ZF Friedrichshafen AG. Mike Rockenfeller in sixth place finished in the points as well.

ZF has been involved in the DTM as an official supplier since the beginning of the 2011 season. This year Audi exclusively relies on the company’s clutches. From the 2012 season and beyond, ZF will be the exclusive supplier of clutch systems to the three premium car manufacturers, Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz.
