Formula 1: Fernando Alonso takes second place

Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso clinched second place with a fighting performance during the German Grand Prix at the Nürburgring. It was the third consecutive podium finish for the Spaniard whose race car uses ZF Sachs Race Engineering dampers. Team mate Felipe Massa, who also relies on dampers from Schweinfurt in his Ferrari, was fifth in the Eifel. A slower pit stop than defending champion Sebastian Vettel saw the Brazilian lose fourth position on the last lap.

Sauber driver Kamui Kobayashi collected points for the seventh time in ten races this season after finishing ninth. The Japanese’s race car is also equipped with ZF Sachs dampers.
