DTM: Podium place for Tomczyk after recovery in wet race

From position ten on the grid Martin Tomczyk showed a tremendous recovery in pouring rain at the Norisring in front of 124,000 spectators (throughout the weekend) which ultimately earned him a podium finish. Behind Bruno Spengler and Jamie Green (both Mercedes) the driver from Rosenheim, Bavaria, came third with a gap of 1.493 seconds which made him the best driver of an Audi A4 DTM, all of which are equipped with clutch high-tech from ZF Sachs Race Engineering. The race was stopped after 64 laps due to the rain becoming heavier and heavier.

Although Tomczyk lost the lead of the standings to Spengler, with a three-point gap he remains within a striking distance. Audi drivers Timo Scheider (4th place), Edoardo Mortara (5th ) and Mattias Ekström (7th) also finished in the points.

ZF Sachs has been involved in the DTM as an official supplier since the beginning of the 2011 season. This year Audi exclusively relies on the company’s clutches. From the 2012 season on, ZF Sachs will be the exclusive supplier of clutch systems to the three premium car manufacturers, Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz.
