24 hours Nürburgring: Manthey Porsche wins with ZF Sachs

It was the greatest racing festival in Germany: at the 24 hours Nürburgring and also in the support programme ZF Sachs appeared in action during a spectacular event attended by 250,000 spectators.

The Manthey Racing Porsche 911 GT3 RSR celebrated overall victory after 24 hard fought hours around the world’s longest race track. Marc Lieb, Lucas Luhr and last year’s Le Mans winners Timo Bernhard and Romain Dumas relied on a ZF Sachs Race Engineering clutch to take them to victory.

Audi produced the GT3 winner for the third time in succession. Marc Basseng, Marcel Fässler and Frank Stippler won the production based class in the Audi R8 LMS fielded by Audi Sport Team Phoenix ahead of two further Audis. Like the other Audi R8 LMS in the field they also relied on a ZF Sachs Race Engineering clutch.

In the event’s supporting programme Porsche had another superlative on offer during the weekend: the Porsche Carrera World Cup the biggest ever Porsche race. René Rast took the spoils. The 100 participants representing 25 nations competed with the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup around the Nordschleife. ZF Sachs Race Engineering equipped the Porsche Cup cars with clutches and dampers.
