DTM: Brilliant first victory for Mike Rockenfeller, Martin Tomczyk comes third

At the 44th DTM race Mike Rockenfeller clinched his first victory in the most popular international touring car racing series. The German, whose A4 DTM – just like the vehicles of his Audi brand colleagues – is equipped with a high-tech clutch by ZF Sachs Race Engineering finished the race on the Dutch dune circuit at Zandvoort with a lead of 1.423 seconds ahead of Bruno Spengler (Mercedes).

Audi driver Martin Tomczyk came third. The German from Rosenheim, who has been driving a 2008-spec A4 DTM since the beginning of the season, thrilled the crowd of 29,000 spectators (throughout the weekend) by showing spectacular overtaking manoeuvres. Three other Audi racers, the two-time DTM Champion Timo Scheider (5th place), DTM rookie Edoardo Mortara (6th place) and Mattias Ekström (8th place) who is a two-time DTM Champion as well, finished in the points too.

ZF Sachs is involved in the DTM as official supplier from the 2011 season onwards. This year Audi relies exclusively on the company’s clutches. From the 2012 season and beyond ZF Sachs exclusively supplies all three premium automobile manufacturers Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz with clutch systems.
