DTM: Jamie Green wins at the last moment

With a spectacular overtaking manoeuvre on the last lap, Jamie Green won the fifth round of the DTM season at the Norisring. 135,000 spectators (throughout the weekend) saw a thrilling race in which the weather god with conditions changing between pouring rain and dryness directed the action in an entertaining way. When the track became increasingly dry towards the end of the race, Green in his Mercedes AMG C-Coupé was the fastest man and in the last seconds of the race commandingly intercepted the BMW drivers Martin Tomczyk and Bruno Spengler – who then completed the podium.

Gary Paffett, who after a mass collision in turn one and dropping to 20th place had to chase the field, finished on position four. After this spectacular recovery, the Mercedes driver even managed to extend his lead in the drivers’ standings – among other reasons because Audi driver Mattias Ekström had become a victim of this crash and was forced to retire. Directly after the accident Ralf Schumacher had been leading the race but had to park his car during the course of the race due to a defect. Behind David Coulthard, who on position five clinched his so far best DTM result, Mike Rockenfeller in sixth place was the best Audi driver. All three of the premium manufacturers in the DTM, Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz, rely on clutch high tech from ZF Friedrichshafen AG.
